We are glutted with trash all around us and we ignore them feeling it’s not important. Those heaps of dirt we see around started from little trash and trash blindness. As part of the Let’s Do it! Campaign plan of JCI Nigeria; we are uniting with members of JCI Nigeria Collegiate to organize a cleanup exercise tagged “Ekiti Cleanup Games” – an innovative way of encouraging proper waste management and recycling.

Clean Games is an environmental educational project that allows members to contribute to the protection of the environment and to learn the basics of waste sorting and recycling.

The game takes 2-3 hours. People participate in teams (like in sport game). Each team collects trash and earns points, which can be used for additional inventory. The aim of the game is to collect the maximum amount of trash. Team with maximum score become a winner and get prizes. Subsequently waste is sent to recycling (where possible).

We will also use our “World Cleanup” App during the games in mapping wastes and knowing their locations; and we use special mobile website cleangames.ru* to hold the games.

The meeting point for the exercise is Prosperous Royal Hotel, Ado-Ekiti

Highlight of the Event: (1) All the participants must have “World Cleanup” App downloaded on their phones and functional (2) A day to the event, they will go out to map their locations and wastes (3) On the game day, participants will be divided into teams and each team with a Lead. (4) Within each team, they will group themselves into 5 units as follows: Plastics, Cans, Glass, Tires and Mixed-Trash. (5) A map of the area will be given to each team and they will go out to pick wastes within 2 - 3 hours (6) Each group of items collected has points allocated to them (7) After the allocated time; they will take all their wastes to a collection point for scoring by Judges (8) The team with highest points will get gifts (9) The Waste Management Authority and Recyclers will move the items
